As some (ok, probably all) of you know by now, my debut memoir will soon be released into the world.
Motherness: a Memoir of Generational Autism, Parenthood, and Radical Acceptance is slated for publication on 23 September 2025 but is now available for pre-order.
Motherness is a slice of life. It’s the story of two autistic people, a mother and son, diagnosed 10 years apart, and all the ways their experiences of autism diverge and overlap.
Above all, it’s an honest portrait of how we live—one that captures the hard and heartfelt. The funny and the sad. Above all, I wanted to write a narrative that is more nuanced than the usual tropes and binaries: that autism is a gift, a superpower; that autism is a curse, an affliction.
The reality is, autism can sometimes feel like all of those things rolled into one.
In the coming months, I will be offering sneak peeks and book-related perks for subscribers. (Also: a caveat emptor that I will likely get more freaked out and distractible, so don’t shoot me if you notice more typos in my posts than usual.)
Meantime, thank you for your continued support. I’m glad to have you here.
I ordered mine :) I love the cover and the font, too!
Carson made an excellent choice.
